Obama Says Yes To Sex Ed for Kindergartners
by Matt Margolis at 07:43 PM

This is absurd. There is no reason why we need the schools to teach kids that are five years old about something that should be left to the parents. What's even scarier is that he told Planned Parenthood that sex education for kindergartners is "the right thing to do" as long as it is "age-appropriate." Oh yeah? And who gets to decide what is "age-appropriate?" Will kids be expected to learn about homosexuality and transgenderism too? After all, what's stopping the school from using some student's parents being homosexuals, or some teacher being a cross-dresser or having once been a man as justification to teach these impressionable kids that such deviant behaviors are normal or healthy?

UPDATE: A reader emailed in response to my question about "who gets to decide what is 'age-appropriate'" noting that the article states that Obama proposes that "local communities and local school boards" would determine what is age appropriate.Yes. I know that, it was a rhetorical question. The bottom line is it should be up to parents to decide what their kids should know and when and what is appropriate. Communities that may not include affected parents or school boards with agendas aren't exactly what I would call the best decision makers for deciding what and how to teach kindergarteners about sex.

UPDATE: Mitt Romney responds to Obama's comments.

Hi guys! I don't think we need to worry too much! This is all about local control for individual school districts, it seems.

Might I quote from another article?

When Obama’s campaign was asked by ABC News to explain what kind of sex education Obama considers “age appropriate” for kindergarteners, the Obama campaign pointed to an Oct. 6, 2004 story from the Daily Herald in which Obama had “moved to clarify” in his Senate campaign that he “does not support teaching explicit sex education to children in kindergarten. . . The legislation in question was a state Senate measure last year that aimed to update Illinois’ sex education standards with ‘medically accurate’ information . . . ‘Nobody’s suggesting that kindergartners are going to be getting information about sex in the way that we think about it,’ Obama said. ‘If they ask a teacher ‘where do babies come from,’ that providing information that the fact is that it’s not a stork is probably not an unhealthy thing. Although again, that’s going to be determined on a case by case basis by local communities and local school boards.’”

Romney is a poser. No other way to describe how he supported the same exact thing in his 2002 run for MA governor:

"Teacher, where do babies come from?"

The correct answer: "Oh honey, why don't you ask your mommy and daddy... they can tell you about it"

The wrong answer: "Here... let me take this banana and this condom... "

Teachers should teach, not RAISE our children!

I was appalled by Senator Obama's suggestion for sex ed in Kindergarten. We aren’t living in Aldous Huxley’s brave new world are we? This is simply absurd to expose our children to sexuality at a young age. This is just another democrat pandering to the licentious far left.
