From the Boston Globe:
Of Obama, the editorial board wrote that his diverse and international life experience was a plus. "The most sobering challenges that face this country — terrorism, climate change, disease pandemics — are global,'' the board wrote. "America needs a president with an intuitive sense of the wider world, with all its perils and opportunities. Barack Obama has this understanding at his core.''The board, noting that Obama would be the country's first post-Baby Boom president if elected, addressed his relative lack of Washington experience compared to several of his Democratic rivals. ''It is true that all the other Democratic contenders have more conventional resumes, and have spent more time in Washington,'' the board wrote. "But that exposure has tended to give them a sense of government’s constraints. Obama is more open to its possibilities.''
Odd - Obama is the man because he is least grounded in the harsh realities of politics and thus is more likely to...what? Presumptively, given that the Globe clearly doesn't like people who understand the constraints of government, run pell mell into all sorts of half-baked ideas for government intervention in the life of America. Barack Obama - never run a business, never held an executive position, has only minimal practical knowledge of how America outside Illinios works...and the Globe thinks this is a plus; Obama, you see, won't say "no" simply because of tiresome facts and experience...he'll say "yes" to anyone who seems to have a good idea. You know, like welfare was considered a good idea in the 60's...
In a lot of ways, it is time for the post-Boomers to take control. The Boomers made a rather large mess of everything and the quicker we post-Boomers get into power, the quicker we can get it cleaned up for the benefit of the United States as a whole - but let us find one of our best to be America's first post-Boomer President...not someone who is a mere media darling.
